Army Emergency Relief (AER) - Financial Assistance
Army Emergency Relief (AER) is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to “Helping the Army Take Care of its Own”. AER provides financial assistance to Soldiers - active and retired, their family members, surviving spouses, and orphans who are experiencing a financial hardship. Army Reserve, National Guard, and their Family members are eligible when on continuous active duty under Title 10 orders for at least 30 consecutive days. Army Pregnancy Postpartum Physical Training (P3T) Exercise Sessions
Pregnancy and Postpartum Physical Training (P3T) exercise sessions assist Soldiers in maintaining optimal fitness during pregnancy and improving readiness postpartum, to return a fit Soldier back to unit PRT after maternity leave and the postpartum period. Child Care Referrals - Fee Assistance
WA STATE DEPT OF SOCIAL & HEALTH SERVICES: Several state child care subsidy programs help eligible families with children pay child care costs. The most common is the Working Connections Child Care program which helps families who are working and have incomes at or below 200 percent of the federal poverty level. Other programs include the help for families who are homeless or seasonal workers, or through specific Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) programs.

Counseling - Military and Family Life Counselors (MFLC)
Services offered through the Military and Family Life Counseling Program are confidential, not reported to the command, and do not impact a service member’s security clearance. One-on-one, couple, or group — MFLCs can help you manage life challenges such as: Deployment adjustments Stress management Moving preparations and getting settled Relationship building A problem at work The grieving process following the death of a loved one or colleague Please note: duty to warn, suspected family maltreatment (domestic violence, child abuse or neglect), harm to self or others, and illegal activity are all exceptions to privacy. Typically, MFLCs do not address: Abuse Sucidial thoughts Other mental health issues requiring medication or long-term care If you're facing something which cannot be addressed by a counselor, you will receive a referral for medical counseling services in your community through a military treatment facility or TRICARE.

Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS)
The mission of the DEERS/ID Cards section is to ensure enrollment of all eligible DoD beneficiaries in the Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS) and to provide Common Access Card (CAC) issuance to Soldiers, Retirees and their family members as well as to Federal Civilian Employees, Contract Employees and all other DoD Uniformed Services beneficiaries. Brigades and Special Troops Battalion S-1 Sections are required to provide DEERS/RAPIDS updates, PIN resets, and CAC production support to all assigned and attached service members. Provide services and counseling that support commanders in maintaining unit financial readiness to sustain deployments, to counsel and educate Service members and their Families on financial self-sufficiency. This is accomplished through prevention education, one-on-one counseling sessions, and support services. Learning new money management skill sets or improving upon existing money management techniques will enable Service members to become financially independent, which is achieved by living within one’s means, having emergency savings set aside, setting and meeting personal financial goals, and planning for retirement through the use of the Thrift Saving Plan (TSP) or other investment products. Gate Operations
JBLM is a controlled access installation. Vehicles with an adult, authorized Department of Defense ID cardholder (18 or older) may enter JBLM through any open gate. Vehicles without an adult, authorized DOD ID cardholder (18 or older) present must report to the Visitor Control Center adjacent to either the Lewis Main Liberty Gate (I-5 exit 120) or McChord Field Main Gate (I-5 exit 125) to receive a Temporary Pass. To do this, you must have a valid driver's license, vehicle registration, proof of insurance, and have an adult, authorized DOD sponsor (18 or older) willing to sponsor your base access. Sponsors must be available by phone to complete the pass issuance process. Commercial vehicles will continue to use the McChord Commercial Vehicle Inspection Point (CVIP) for access to McChord Field and Lewis Main. Commercial vehicle access to Lewis North should use the Integrity Gate. When these gates are closed, commercial vehicles process at the Madigan Gate (I-5 exit 122A). JBLM uses Automated Installation Entry (AIE 3) for entry to the installation. Please see website below for further information.

U.S. Army Medical Command (MEDCOM) established a Housing Environmental Health Response Registry to address Army Family concerns about Army family housing and related health issues. Individual Counseling, Group Therapy
The Psychological Health Intensive Outpatient Program (PHIOP) provides enrolled active duty personnel with group and individual therapy, 3-4 hours per day, every day, for approximately one month. All service members must have a primary behavioral health care provider to be referred. PHIOP has tailored tracks to meet the needs of service members with depression, anxiety, PTSD, and other common behavioral health concerns.

The JBLM Center for Autism Resources, Education and Services (CARES) is a joint installation partnership between Madigan Army Medical Center and the JBLM Armed Forces Community Service which focuses on providing patient-centered care for military children with autism and their families. JBLM CARES houses support services such as: occupational, physical and speech therapy, ABA, Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP) Systems Navigation, CYSS Respite Care and more.

Labor & Delivery - Madigan
Madigan’s Labor & Delivery provides normal and high risk newborn patient care consisting of 18 adult beds and eight bassinets. There are seven birthing suites, two operating rooms, a six bed Triage/Monitoring area, four antepartum beds and a tub room for labor support. On average, we deliver 180 babies a month. We have a friendly staff of physicians and nurses who are committed to bringing you and your family current, safe and state-of-the-art medical care.

Local Air Quality Information
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has a tool to communicate the status of local air quality to the public—the Air Quality Index (AQI). The AQI is derived from real-time air pollution measurements taken at monitoring stations throughout the United States. The AQI has three components: a color, a score and a health message recommending protective action based on the level of air pollution. The current AQI for air quality around Joint Base Lewis-McChord can be found on the Army Public Health Center website at the web address below.

Medication Disposal - Unwanted / Expired
JBLM offers multiple secure receptacles for the safe disposal of unwanted, unused or expired medications. The blue MedSafe receptacles are located in the Madigan Main Pharmacy Lobby, the McChord Medical Clinic on McChord Field, the Okubo Soldier Centered Medical Home on Lewis North, Winder Clinic, and the Madigan-Puyallup Community Medical Home. Each of these receptacles feature a one-way “drop door” to securely dispose of medications during regular business hours. Accepted medications for disposal in the MedSafe include prescription and over-the counter medicines to include controlled-substance medications, vitamins, medicated lotions/ointments, liquid medication in leak-proof containers, and transdermal skin patches. Items that are not suitable for deposit in the MedSafe are needles (sharps), illegal drugs, aerosol spray cans (to include aerosol inhalers), and chemicals or hazardous waste.
Military & Family Life Counselors
Military and Family Life Counselors (MFLCs) are licensed professionals who provide situational, problem-solving consultations anonymously and confidentially. No written records are kept, and it is free to military and family members. They also work hand-in-hand with existing services to provide consulting, education and training support on topics such as: Combat stress and coping strategies; emotional cycle of deployment and reintegration; communication; relationship issues and re-establishing intimacy; anger management/conflict resolution; parenting skills; children's reaction to deployment and reunion
Military Caregiver Resource Directory
Designed to help empower military caregivers with information about national-level resources and programs specifically for them. Topics include: helplines, advocacy and benefit information, career transitions and employment, military caregiver support, children’s needs, education and training, financial support, rest and relaxation, and others.
Military Caregiver Virtual Forum
Military Caregiver Forums are organized and conducted by specialized counselors who provide non-medical counseling opportunities for military caregivers. At these forums, attendees discuss topics they would like to focus on, such as managing stress, nutrition, financial wellness, and employment, among other topics. The forums aim to reduce stress, provide emotional support, and be a resource for valuable information through guided discussion among military caregivers, allowing them to share practical, accurate, and thorough information based on their personal experiences.

Relocation Readiness Program: Local maps, local area information, lending closet, orientation Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM) is the Number 1 requested installation, and the JBLM Armed Forces Community Service (AFCS) Relocation Readiness Program (RRP) is a comprehensive program designed to assist Service members and Families with transfers and relocations throughout the tour cycle. Services and programs include workshops, counseling and support, pre-move planning, moving, settling into a new community, and more.

FAP offers Life Skills classes that include stress management, anger control, and parenting. These classes are designed to help Soldiers and Family members develop skills that will benefit them in their daily lives and may help to prevent instances of Family violence.  All classes are free. You can self-enroll or you could be referred to classes by the chain of command or health professional.

Madigan Army Medical Center has several pharmacies available on Joint Base Lewis-McChord. These pharmacies are located in Madigan Army Medical Center, on JBLM Lewis Main, JBLM Lewis North, and McChord Field. At all Locations, when picking up prescriptions, you must have a military ID card for all patients’ ages 10 years and older. A photocopy of the patient's ID card may be used to pick up prescriptions.
